General Electric = Exclusive industry sponsor of EUCO2 80/50

                  
GE announced on December 13, 2009  that it's initiative ecomagination is to support phase 2 of the EUCO2 80/50, Europe’s biggest and probably most ambitious cities initiative to reduce urban greenhouse gas emissions. The announcement was made at the COP15 summit.

GE ecomagination is GE’s company-wide business strategy driving innovation and growth of profitable environmental solutions in a world where the environment and the economy have
become inextricably linked. At $17B, ecomagination represented nine percent of
GE’s total revenue in 2008 and grew, that year, by 21 percent.

Covenant of Mayors = Recommending partner

    
The Covenant of Mayors is a commitment by signatory towns and cities to go beyond the objectives of EU energy policy in terms of reduction in CO2 emissions through enhanced energy efficiency and cleaner energy production and use.

The European Commission  recommends GRIP as "efficient tool in the context of the Covenant of Mayors" and sees "a high analogy and good convergence between GRIP and Covenant".

METREX = Inventor and godparent of EUCO2 80/50

     METREX, the Network of European Metropolitan Regions   and Areas, provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge, expertise and experience  on metropolitan affairs, and joint action on issues of common interest. The Network has members from some 50 metropolitan regions and areas and partners in many others.

Project EUCO2 80/50 originates from METREX activities which include more and more climate change issues in urban planning.
