GE announced on December 13, 2009 that it's initiative ecomagination is to support phase 2 of the EUCO2 80/50, Europe’s biggest and probably most ambitious cities initiative to reduce urban greenhouse gas emissions. The announcement was made at the COP15 summit.
GE ecomagination is GE’s company-wide business strategy driving innovation and growth of profitable environmental solutions in a world where the environment and the economy have
become inextricably linked. At $17B, ecomagination represented nine percent of
GE’s total revenue in 2008 and grew, that year, by 21 percent.
Covenant of Mayors = Recommending partner
The Covenant of Mayors is a commitment by signatory towns and cities to go beyond the objectives of EU energy policy in terms of reduction in CO2 emissions through enhanced energy efficiency and cleaner energy production and use.
The European Commission recommends GRIP as "efficient tool in the context of the Covenant of Mayors" and sees "a high analogy and good convergence between GRIP and Covenant".
METREX = Inventor and godparent of EUCO2 80/50
